Philosophy

We believe that learning is an intrinsic quality of every child.  In a safe nurturing environment, children learn through a natural curiosity of their environment and exploration of the world around them. As the world is ever-changing, so is the need to modify and adapt our teaching approach to ensure our children are keeping up with what is relevant in the world.  We do not believe anyone approach can completely and adequately serve the needs of the child, who has unbounded curiosity, the need for more diverse experiences is an innovative learner, and has infinite potential.  At Global Minds, we combine the Montessori teaching philosophy with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).  When we combine more than one pedagogy, we create more chances for the child’s talents to come to light.

Natashia Henderson/Director of Global Minds Montessori

Natashia is the director at Global Minds Montessori.  She is 37 years old and has always had a passion for educating the young minds of children.  She is a mother of 4 and has worked as a teacher for over 10 years.  She worked mostly in the Issaquah School District as a second-grade teacher, however, she also taught preschool for 3 years which peaked her interest in early childhood education.  Throughout her teaching career, she gained experience working with students with diverse needs which helped shape her values around creating a program that would meet the needs of diverse learners.  As a teacher, Natashia was exposed to and fell in love with the Montessori style of teaching.  She was inspired to create a school program with a Montessori base while adding other key elements she observed throughout her teaching career to be beneficial in teaching the whole child.
